Druginformer Identified Side Effects: Pain in extremity, Crying, Decreased appetite

Effectiveness Rating:     Overall Rating:

Posted By Michelle on February 11, 2018 @ 10:58 am

My six year old son had the flu. Had temp of 103.4. His doctor prescribed Tamiflu. After 2 doses his fever broke. However the next morning when trying to get out of bed, my child stood on his toes and said he could not walk and his legs hurt. I asked him to show me where and he point to both calves. Took to emergency room as was told to watch him closely give him warm baths, children motrin, and Gatorade and juices. This morning he tried to get out of bed again to no avail. Still has pain. I am discontinuing the medication and calling his doctor for further instructions.

Worked great for treating my flu symptoms. I woke-up the next morning feeling way better, but the side effects were super annoying. I would forget what I was trying to say mid-sentence, had a hard time completing tasks, and was scared to drive while on it. Overall feeling of being dumbed down. I also noticed very mild hallucinations. While I was smoking a cigarette outside at night, I noticed the light given off by the cigarette ember would trail behind the cigarette at least a full second after I moved it. I thought it was the glare on my glasses, so I took them off, but the light still moved almost a full second after I moved the cigarette. Very weird experience. I will only take this again if there is no better option next time.

* About FAERS: The FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) is used by FDA for activities such as looking for new safety concerns that might be related to a marketed product, evaluating a manufacturer's compliance to reporting regulations and responding to outside requests for information. Reporting of adverse events is a voluntary process, and not every report is sent to FDA and entered into FAERS. The FAERS database may contain duplicate reports, the report quality is variable, and many factors may influence reporting (e.g., media attention, length of time a drug is marketed, market share). For these reasons, FAERS case reports cannot be used to calculate incidence or estimates of risk for a particular product or compare risks between products.
